I feel that I would not be going too far out on a limb by saying that we have all had to make some sacrifices during this period of economic volatility. Maybe you stopped short of purchasing the airline tickets for your much-deserved vacation of a lifetime. And to think that a little over a year ago, you might be cruising 30,000 feet over the Atlantic by now. Perhaps you are after the latest and greatest technological gadget. This time last year, you might have pushed your way to the front of the line to buy it. Fast forward to today. You avoid the splurge and wait for it to go on sale, or maybe you pass up on it altogether. |

How many times have you had an employee quit and then immediately feel desperate to fill the slot that was just vacated? Unfortunately, it's an all too common occurrence in today's workplace. There are a number of things you can do to help you get through the trying times while hiring a replacement but there is also the danger of hiring just about anyone that walks through the door just to get the job filled. Don't do this! Take the time necessary to hire the right person for the job. The actual cost of turnover is much greater than most employers realize so the first line of defense should always be to make every effort to retain your current employee, assuming he/she was performing their duties at an acceptable level. |

Is Franchising Virtually Fraud Free ? |

The number of complaints to the Federal Trade Commission on Franchising do not indicate ramped fraud in the franchising sector. The FTC before Congress gave a report showing that the number of complaints was fewer than one tenth of one percent, lower than any other industry. Nearly all the franchising cases the Federal Trade Commission filed, were gray, crying wolf area of law and most settled as soon as possible; considering the slow nature of our courts in America. |

Question: What do you think the most important part of any ad is? Your company name? Your telephone number? Your offer? Look at your own advertising. What stands out? What is in the largest print? If it's your company name or logo hold out your wrist so I can whack it with a stick. What's the answer? THE HEADLINE!! You see, without a good compelling headline it won't matter much how great your copy or you offer is, because few will ever read it. |
