Entering the world of franchising can be very exciting. You will have the opportunity to own and operate your own business, just with a higher chance of success from that of starting your own independent business. You will have a great support network and great systems in place to use. However you will still have decisions to make and you will still have a lot of work to do. Your efforts will determine the success of your franchise. Here are some tips to keep your franchise on top!

I use Maple Vale Book Mfgrs in York PA, but they do not do short shorts. How about mid-length?  Were they perfectly binding?

They give you a certain amount of copies for a fee of course, but then people can order more. The cost is a few hundred I think. Yes. For a few copies, this is the cheaper alternative, and less work. In our last episode, <tkN_7.100319$ This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , the lovely and talented SereneBabe broadcast on misc.writing: One of my clients has asked me to edit and put together the manu_script_ of her step-father's book I don't.  I assume your client is sufficiently in touch with reality to understand that she will never see a financial return on money spent on this project.   When we toured a book manufacturing company, there were several examples of books published by families or individuals for family-only consumption. Biographies, festschrifts, previously unpublished fiction, and religious tracts made up the bulk of these works. With the advent of book-on-demand, the $3000 or so minimum cost should have shrunk to a few hundred dollars. Bill Penrose

We want to publish it ourselves so her mother can have a book. What self-publishing services do you recommend? I don't.  I assume your client is sufficiently in touch with reality to understand that she will never see a financial return on money spent on this project.  It is perfectly reasonable, if she has the means, to make this sentimental gesture, but she must understand that it is that, and by no means can it be considered an investment. [snip] This is *purely* sentimental. *Purely.* And, we're looking at making just a couple copies. Though, she may want to make more in the future. I have seen the P.O.D. option via one of my listservs, and I am looking into it. It's historical fiction, by the way. And, I must admit, it's well written. I've got to juggle it around a bit and clean it up, but, it's awfully engaging

Another thing to consider is putting this together as a one-of-a kind, sort of high level scrapbook. Use beautiful paper, decorative elements

so her mother can have a book. What self-publishing services do you recommend? Heather, there's a group of people called, I think, personal historians. Their business is to help people put together their memoirs and such. I'm sure they have a professional organization, and I'm betting there are even software packages for pulling together the stuff you'll need to take to the printer (not a vanity press per se). Do a little searching for this bunch and see what suggestions they have. Another thing to consider is putting this together as a one-of-a kind, sort of high level scrapbook. Use beautiful paper, decorative elements
